The Lawrence General Hospital and Holy Family Hospital Board of Trustees announced that Diana L. Richardson has accepted the role of Interim President and CEO for the health system. She will join the organization on April 14, 2025.
“Diana is a highly respected healthcare executive with 20 years of leadership experience in hospital system operations. We are delighted to welcome her to our organization,” said Rosemarie Day, Board Chair of Lawrence General Hospital and Holy Family Hospital. “Her collaborative approach, thoughtful decision-making, and commitment to strong employee engagement will be essential as we continue to unify Lawrence General and Holy Family Hospitals into a regional health system that serves the Merrimack Valley.”
Prior to joining the health system, Richardson was a senior transition liaison with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), where she played a key role in the state’s incident command response to the Steward Health Care bankruptcy crisis. Before her time at DPH, Richardson served as executive vice president of Tufts Medicine and president of Tufts Medical Center in Boston, after previously holding the role of senior vice president and chief operating officer. Additionally, she was vice president of operations at UF Health – Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL.
“I am proud to be joining the Lawrence General Hospital and Holy Family Hospital team at this pivotal moment,” said Richardson. “I look forward to working closely with the Board, the organization’s leadership team, and all clinicians and staff as we continue this journey towards integration while caring for our patients and communities across the region.”
Richardson will serve as Interim President & CEO while the Board of Trustees conducts a comprehensive, national search for a permanent system president & CEO. During this time, her leadership will be vital to maintaining ongoing work to stabilize, preserve, and enhance health care access in the Merrimack Valley.
“I would also like to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation on behalf of myself and the Board to Robin Hynds for her exceptional leadership as Acting CEO,” added Day. “Robin’s dedication, leadership and guidance during this period have been invaluable. Robin continues in her role as executive vice president and chief operating officer, focusing on our critical integration work, as an integral member of the executive team.”
